Calling Ash Can

At first glance, it's the mini can, but look again. There's a rest built into the rim, holding it steady while it burns. It's the mini can, given a different life. An ashtray, not a cup, made for a different kind of pause.

The Ash Can is finished in a reactive glaze, which behaves differently with every firing depending on heat and the glaze's own chemistry. This means far greater variation than our regular glazes: colour, pooling, texture and finish can all shift piece to piece. On some pieces in the brown variant, this can also produce silvery, metallic patches across the surface. These variations are inherent to this glaze and not something we can control or predict. Please refer to the group shot for a sense of the range of variation you may receive.

It is handcrafted in small batches. As it's made from natural clay, each batch may shrink slightly differently when fired, causing small variations in size and weight from piece to piece.
